           On Sunday, 18 January 2009, LARG and Virginia Defense Force (VDF) members SSG Tom Carney WB9RXJ and SGT Luther Guise K5NOB provided members of C Company, 3/116 Infantry of the Virginia National Guard familiarization training on HF radio base station setup and operation and mobile operations. The training also included antenna safety and setup by other members of the VDF. Tom and Luther are members of A Company, 33 Battalion, Black Horse Brigade of the Virginia Defense Force.
