         The church is located at the intersection of Market Street and Catoctin Circle on the west side of town. It is just east of the bypass. From the Bypass, take the Leesburg exit at the west end of town and the church is on the right just past the traffic light. Please enter through the door on the east side of the building. There are both steps and a ramp by the door.

LARG Commuter Net. Members of the LARG meet Monday through Friday on 147.480 MHz simplex from 6:30 to 8:00 AM and again at 4:30 to 6:30 PM.

W1AW - ARRL Live CW Training. The American Radio Relay League conducts several daily on-the-air CW training broadcasts on weekdays from W1AW, the Hiram Percy Maxim Memorial Station, in Hartford, CT. Inspiring Charlie Whiskey operators who haven't got their ticket yet can tune in free. There's nothing like copying live on HF.  See W1AW Transmission Schedule  . If you got your ticket then just get on and operate; folks will slow down for you until you get up to speed - shoot for 25 WPM. Good Luck.

  Amateur Radio Extra Class License Training - Starts September 29th. Purcellville, VA. August 19, 2006. The Loudoun Amateur Radio Group will hold an Extra Class License course and a Morse Code course this fall. Students can sign up for either one or both courses. The first class will be a brief overview of the course and the beginning of the Morse code class. In later sessions the first half hour will be Morse code instruction and practice taught by Henry, K2BFY. The rest of the class will cover course content.

The classes will be held on Friday evenings. The dates are Sept. 29th, Oct. 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th and Nov. 3rd. The class will be held at Harmony United Methodist church at 380 East Colonial Highway in Hamilton, VA. The class will begin at 7:00pm and end about 9:00pm. There is no charge for the classes, but you will need to buy a book for Extra course. We will use the ARRL book "Extra Class License Manual", 8th edition for the class. These books are available from ARRL, technical bookstores, Ham Radio Outlet, and others. Henry will have Morse code instruction software available at the first class for a small fee.

Six Friday Sessions: September 29, October 6, 13, 20 and 27, and November 3.

The first session will be an introduction and will begin the CW training. In later sessions the first half hour will be CW and the remainder will cover the topic of the evening.

We will use the ARRL textbooks Extra Class License Manual, 8th edition and FCC Rule Book, 13th edition. These books are available from ARRL, technical bookstores, Ham Radio Outlet, and others.

The LARG Thursday Night SSB Net meets on 3762.5 KHz on LSB at 8 PM Local Time on Thursday Evenings.  The net will start up on this frequency or +/- the QRM in the Extra Class Subband on 75-Meters. Sometimes, the NCS will try to listen for check ins on an announced frequency above 3853 KHz for General Class Operators: most often we listened on or around 3863.0 KHz. So, try to check-in weekly.

   LARG Holiday Dinner

Meg Gentges - N4OGE is leading the arrangements for our annual Holiday Dinner. This year, we plan to meet at the That's Amore, 46300 Potomac Run Plaza, Sterling, VA 20164 at 6:30 PM with appetizers served at 7 PM. The cost per person including tax and gratuity is $45.00. All dinners are served with appetizers, salads, pastas, meat entries, breads, and Italian dipping oil, freshly brewed coffee, decaffeinated coffee, iced tea and soda. Tuesday is 2 for one night on bottled wine. So depending on the number of individuals that wish to pool their  wine purchases the cost to participate would be $4.00 for approximately three glasses of wine.  Meg has published the menu on the QST de K4LRG Reflector - See Message # 7069. She is also trying to meet a deadline of October 22nd for a tentative headcount; this will determine whether we should reserve the larger of two rooms which will accommodate over 50 folks. LARG CW Net.   Since February 2004, the LARG Slow Speed CW Net has been operating on 3697 KHz +/- the QRM at 8 PM each Tuesday evening. Look for one of the 'Regulars as NCS' or call "CQ LARG de 'Your Call'. Once we are checked in, members conduct a nice Round-Table QSO.
